Star items included an Arsenal snood, Mince pies, an angry carrot and Premier League tickets.

Welcome to our new captain

Sunday 6th November- Dennis Oliver thumped a huge drive down the first to kick off the winter competitions and his new year as BAGC captain.

Dennis announced that his chosen charity is Helen and Douglas House

A cold but sunny start that suited the silky skills of Nathan Graham. He won with a cushion of 3 shots on a difficult day for most. In fact the computer spat out the news that there would be handicap reductions only because the standard scratch was 73.

Prize Presentation Evening

Our end of season dinner was a geat success. Danny was as entertaining as always as he took his bow for the final time. An evening of fine food, Marlon Brando impressionsand dodgy jokes. As usual Danny Tucker was in the thick of things, prize wise.I believe Chris Dodds sells socks so the vouchers should come in handy.Jim Smith has had a very good summer and collected a bucketload of silverware, as did our captain.

Captains Day 23rd Otober

It was a memorable and fitting day to finish a great year with Danny Saia as captain. Danny handed over a cheque for over £3.000 to his, and our, charity for the year, to provide support for local lad Liam. Liam's mum gave a wonderful and inspirational speech about Liam, his positive outlook in tackling all that life has thrown at him and the family. The money will be a great benefit in providing the extensive physiotherapy that Liam needs.

Franco Grieco provided a seriously good dinner of Lasagne after. I am sure there will be many visiitors to his Rickmansworth restaurant .

The golf was won by new Grandpa, John James with 41 points. This completes a very good week for JJ who is now officially, old .Danny Tucker scored a great 39 points off his 2 handicap

Jardine Eclectic-week2

Class alway shows. After 2 rounds Danny Tucker has emerged as the winner by 2 points. His 68 , winning total relegated MickMonaghan into second and Dave Wright into 3rd. Well done Kevin Tucker, back to form. His score of 72 wins him the medal. Dave Wright and Andy Randall came in close behind on 73 and 74

Eddie Bovingdon Medal 17/04/2016

Well done, Brian Gibson. A net 71 gave him the first medal on countback from Glen Toudup(who scored the lowest gross score of the day) and Andy Martin . The captain" He turns up he wins" ,didn't, unfortunately sliding to mid table mediocrity. We saw an amazing turnout for an April comp so it was a dark finish for some

Ladies Greensome 15/04/2016

A very wet but enjoyable day as always with the distaff golfers from Beaconsfield Golf Club. Andy Prickett glided through the water like an olympic swimmer to win the shortened event with his lady partner. Great speech from Danny, whetting our appetite with the promise of a Sicilian themed rematch in September

Spring Awayday

Well done to all those who made the long and perilous journey to Wycombe Heights. Everyone had a lovely day and the winner with a barnstorming 36 points was Andy Randall. He had to shoot off early as he was on Caddying duty in Augusta with Rory MacIlroy.

Hillman Trophy

Oh dear. We were comprehensively thrashed by Reading Golf Club so don't enter the first round of the trophy. Danny"I turn up, I win" Saia was the only BAGC member to win his game.Looks like we are going for the Plate again

The Medal competition was won by our beloved captain Danny Saia who smashed it with a net score of 65 (Gross 82) As he is only a spring chicken the Veterans Cup went to Frank Wood with a net 67, edging out Pete Grey who incidently did a fine job with the burger egg and chips.

There are various competitions that can be signed up for now. These include the Away-day at Wycombe Heights, The Lidgely Shield match with the parent club and the Ladies Greensomes. All very good days, so if you haven't played them before make an effort to do one or two.

11/12/2015 Turkey Shoot

The successful fowl hunter this year and possibly the most improved player of the year was Kevin- Turkey Plucker- Tucker. He bagged a frozen bird and a nice little nest egg (by winning the Magic 2) His score of 42 on this qualifying Stableford gives him a new handicap of 8 (watch out, brother Danny)

06//2015

Pete Grey showed his class with 40 points scored in difficult conditions.

29/11/15

Danny has chosen the charity for his captain's year. It is called 'Liams Fund' You can find out more by clicking here or going to the

' Captain's Charity 'page.

Only 9 players played in the Qualifying Stableford. The weather was windy but dry, so fortune favoured the brave. There was probably a few of our members sitting at home wishing hey had chanced the dubious weather forecast. On the plus side for the stay-away members they missed seeing Scouser(("I'm only going out for 10")win the competition with a windswept 40 points.

THE POPPY CUP

£700 was passed to the local British Legion from the proceeds of the harvest festival auction and todays competition. The golf was won by Dave Gibson, scoring an impressive 81-net 66. The captain was second, securing a windfall for his captains challenge.

Sunday 8th November

Harvest Festival Qualifying Stableford and Auction

Always a good afternoon here at the clubhouse after the competition. The auction was run by Steve, assisted by Dave when the secretary weakened. The members were generous as always with auction items ranging from a box of apples, to water guns and Arsenal tickets( all tastes catered for, even obscure ones) The golf was won by the Burgermaster Pete Grey, with Keith Croxford very close behind. Both scored 40 points.

Food was provided by the captain's lovely wife and splendid son, a great team effort. The meal was superb. The competition was played out on a lovely warm sunny day, although the last groups had to contend with a sudden fog. Winter golf at it's finest.

Sad news that Val Doonican has passed away. He was a keen artist and drew many sketches of the course and club buildings. Here are a few.

June 16th

Cripwell Cup

Another strong performance saw Danny win this medal with a gross 71(net 69) Danny is now playing of 1.7. The good news is that he's off on holiday so there will be a chance for others to get some silverware.

Andy Randall was second , playing a Jekyl and Hyde round of 71 net. I think his score was 52 front nine, 38 back. Pete Grey came in 3rd with 71 also. the magic 2 was eventually won in the midweek stableford by Stuart . No-one claimed the new pot on Sunday. The match against Gerards Cross resulted in a win for them, leaving them unbeaten in the league

May 24th and 31st C.V Rafferty

This is the premier handicap stroke play event of the year. It is played over 2 rounds.

The bronze trophy was donated by Vesey Rafferty, then President of the two clubs and the C.V Rafferty trophy was known as the Artisans Club Championship. Eyes glazing over yet? The winner of this prestigous prize is the effervescent, ever youthful, that gloriously debbonair, poetic striker of the ball, Mr Phillip Strawa. His 2 rounds of 73 and 69 saw off all-comers.( Is that ok Phil?)

Speaking of our neighbours. The last two matches were against Flackwell Artisans and resulted in 1 win and 1 loss, basically a waste of two afternoons. (Just joking- it's great to see them back in the league)

Please start sticking your names up for matches and volunteers are still welcome for catering.First round singles matches should be played by 6th May so if you are reading this on Thursday, you're too late

April 3rd

R.N.L.I Greensomes

The format probably suited some more than others. Frank Wood definitely benefitted from being able to discard his wonky drives and together with that hot headed, adrenaline junky, Andy Randall cruised to a one shot win . Danny Saia and Kevin Ledgar, who were leaders in the clubhouse for most of the afternoon came second with 40 points. There was a raffle in the clubhouse and Toppers Tote, all raising money for the Lifeboats and the British Lung Foundation. Star prize winner was Danny Tucker who won a box of creme eggs(thought they were ProV1's) Well done to Phil for food once again and Danny for MC duties.

March 27th

Two up for the Toudups at the club day out at Southbucks Golf club. Scott Toudup won the Stableford competition followed by his sibling Glen. It was a good day in the sunshine. Reedy worked on his tan and Andy'Shut-the-box' Prickett provided the after steak pie entertainment.

Volunteers are needed for various catering duties in 2015. Please speak to Glen Douglas and/or see the list going up on the notice board

March 22nd

Final Winter Times Stableford

There was a very good turnout for the last Sunday before Summer Tee Times commence. It was good to see Dave-please bring the trophy back- 'Pokey' Pocock playing again. Also good to see the Captain's squeeze, Laura and her daughter, Jade, supporting their fella. Thanks too for Laura's lovely cake that was auctioned for Glens Charity. The catering was excellent-hotdogs with chilli AND chips mmmmmm... ( Phil and Pete again)

The winner was Danny Tucker who goes back to a handicap of 2. Well played Danny. He was closely followed by Paul Woodbridge and Les Goodyer, all with the same amount of points(39)

The course is waking up, playing very differently now, should be a good summer.

March 15th Medal

Well done to Dick Leslie. A 3 over gross back nine took him to a 3 shot win over the rest of the field. Strapper and Jim Smith Snr took 2nd and 3rd with 69 points apiece. Next Sunday is our last game at high noon. After that we move to our summer times. Please bring a raffle prize if you can

We managed to avoid the rain this Sunday and played for the non-qualifying Stableford comp in windy conditions . The wind didn't affect Dick Leslie, maybe his centre of gravity is quite low. He stormed to 41 points. Second and Magic 2 picker upper was Danny Tucker with 40 points. There was a lot of exitement in the camp-it's the boys away weekend to Dorset on Friday. Good luck to all that are going. I have emailed the hotel to tell them to stock up the bar and hide their women.

Sheets are up in the clubhouse for the various knockout competitions. Draw to be made on the 1st April

February 23rd

More names required for the Lidgely Shield and the Spring day out

February 22nd Golf Fanatics

Wayne had a 'Caddyshack' afternoon and smashed through the rain to get 44 points, 5 shots clear of the field. He has earned a 2 shot cut and the Golf Fanatics trophy. Danny Tucker had another fine day and his 39 points has given him anew handicap of 2.

After reporting that his BF Mick has been missing for a week the police told Danny to prepare for the worst so he has been to the Charity Shop to see if he can get Micks golf clubs back.(smiley face)

More splendid grub served after golf, there is a rumour we could get Michelin starred before the end of the year.

No Magic 2 won this week. Next week back on Hole 5 so expect a winner. My bet is Westie or Danny(Tucker not Saia probably)

The GolfClub has asked that we take care how we cross the 18th fairway to get to the first. So try not to hang around aon the sides of the fairway.

February 15th

Jim Smith Senior emerged as the winner of the Veterans Cup with a net score of 70 in the medal competition. The overall winner on the day with an amazing score of 65(Gross 68) was Danny Tucker, followed closely by Keith Croxford, also with a fantastic score(Net 67, Gross 72) The Magic 2 was on the 11th and won by Glen Toudup, who also appeared in the kitchen, helping to prepare huge bacon and egg rolls.

And the prize goes to the international man of mystery Nathan Graham. Clear winner by a shot and still didn't get cut, Nathan had a good day in the sunshine. Andy Randall also had a memorable Sunday, getting himself second place and watching Man United come second at Upton Park on the same afternoon. The fixture list for 2015 is now uploaded. Please note that the Sunday competitions are now kicking off at 12pm midday until the clocks go forward in Spring. No excuse not to go to church now.

February 1st 2015

Surely Wally Weston would have been very proud that his trophy was won with a gross score under the course par. Danny Tucker obliged with a fabulous 40 points, playing off a handicap of 3. The captain continues an impressive run, just being pipped on countback.

Great beans for tea, accompanying hot dog and fries. It's a great time at Chez BAGC on Sundays. A raffle raised more funds for the Captain's charity.

January 25th

Hard, frozen and bouncy greens meant that we played a non-qualifying stableford. Jack Graham had another good day at the office. He scored an impressive 44 points on a difficult day. There was a very good turn out, 26 players. No exotic foreign specialities on the menu today but the fried onion rings went down pretty well. After 2 weeks in a row in the kitchen Chris'Bones' Weston is now clinically obese.

It was a buona giornata for all today, Spaghetti Bolognese on the menu, the sun shone. The Secretary and the Bar Steward had a rest from their duties and the youngest player in the field won on Grandfathers day! Of course Jack Graham couldn't get the cup which goes by default to the highest placed Grandad (thumbs up from Grandaughter) Magic 2 was won by Frank Wood and Chris Weston- has the world gone mad?

January 11th

A sunny day and the New Year put to bed saw a large field for this qualifying Stableford. Fairweather golfer, Danny 'Taz' Taylor popped in and walked off with 1st prize. The captain put in yet another good score to bolster his charity campaign. Magic 2 stayed unclaimed so rolls over to next week when it will be on the 11th hole. Following golf we had very good Scouseburgers, thanks Dave and Phil. Always willing to help in the kitchen, Steve Reed put his pinny on too.(See Video).

January 4th

Another small field, maybe due to the cold and foggy conditions around and about. The golf course was in surprisingly good condition. The fog was gone so it was a high scoring day, with only one sub 30 point round from any of the 16 players. Kevin Ledgar was a clear winner with 44 points. Frank Wood cleaned up in the Magic 2 competition. If any of the single figure guys need a loan you can apply to Frank, he does appreciate that you have come to rely on this income.December 28th

A small, post-Christmas field played a Non Qualifier as it was a bit frosty underfoot. The day went to Andy Randall who, yet again, was surprised at his success.

Good year for Goodyear

The penultimate competition of 2014 was won at a canter by Mr Les Goodyear. A winning margin of 4 shots made him a clear whiner (sorry, winner- that's predictive text for you) Danny Saia took charge of the prize giving with enthusiasm.Everyone enjoyed the prizes for all-even 22 point Stuart Clarke, bagging a bottle of Vino Calapso.Luckily no-one was forced to pick up the spa bath salts set.Brian Topper even managed to find a very nice umbrella that had , according to him, "accidently slipped out of sight". Many wish they had his brains and animal cunning.

An Odyssey putter donated by Glen Douglas was auctioned off for the charity and raised £50. Well done Dick and well done to the donor who also stumped up for a round of drinks.. Magic 2 was won by Chris Weston on the 11th- he is hotly tipped to get down to single figures. The Captain would like thank everyone for their support, particularly to the charity and to wish everone a good Christmas and a happy New Year

Next Sunday (21st) is the bring and win. You know the drill , bring a wonderful gift and win someone elses discarded old tat. Everone's a winner!

Andy Prickett has set up a Whatsapp group called BAGC. "Whats Whatsapp" I hear you ask? God knows. It s phone app where all the intellectual goings on at the club are discussed. So far that's Turkeys and Man United

December 14th

Turkey Shoot

The Captain has picked himself up, dusted himself off and won the coveted bird( which he promptly auctioned off - going to that great gobbler,Les Goodyear) No Magic 2 prizes awarded . Is it a coincidence that the Flackwell boys were thin on the ground? Captain Glen has been docked a shot, which could mean fewer payouts!?

December 7th 2014

Slippery condition claimed at least two on Sunday. Bob Bailey didn't make it past the 6th and the captain went arse over elbow on 2 occasions, reminding him he is a spring chicken no longer. Despite his lack of grip he carded a fighting 35 (8 points on the last two holes helped)raising £13.00 for the charity pot.The Captains challenge currently stands at £232 . The qualifying stableford comp was won by the ever popular Frank Wood with an amzing display of immaculate golf rarely seen at Beaconsfield. Highlight of the day was definitely the apres-golf bratwurst and chilli with chips.Well done Phil and Dave. Magic 2 was shared by Mick Monahan (theres a surpise) and Chris Weston

December 2014

Sadly, I have to report that after a long struggle Dick Leslie's Belt and Buckle have seperated. They have been together for many years but have decided to go their own ways. The Belt told me " It has been getting more and more of a struggle. There is only so much of me to go around".

The Buckle ( normally, very upfront)said" I was expected to shine all the time but I was always going to snap at some point". Dick was very gracious and offered thanks to the couple."They have always been there to support me, maybe it's time I went over to braces" Rock on Dickie.

December 1st

Anyone who wants to come on the race night this Saturday can still do so but must tell the Secretary by this Wednesday

The clubhouse cleaning schedule is now online

November 30th

Dougie Gant Trophy

Postponed from the rained out previous Sunday, a large field competed in the sunshine for this Stableford prize.Captain Gen was a little under the weather but Danny stepped in and did a grand job, although he had to shell out a considerable amount to the club's Charity. The entire field got round in daylight though some anxiety was expressed in the 8th and 9th groups about the oncoming dusk. No Gin and Tonics were supplied by the day's winner, Carl Piercy so I assume he went on option 1. (see above) His opening drive was, shall we say, not his best.

The Single Figure Golfers Retirement Fund was collected by Nathan this week for an off the green 2 on the 16th. I detected not the slightest bitterness from the plebs when Mr. Graham collected his divvy.

The golf was won by 2 interlopers from Flackwell Heath, with Jim`I`m not bitter` Smith coming in 3rd

MESSAGE FROM THE INCOMING CAPTAIN

Glen welcomed and thanked everyone for their attendance at the AGM. He recognised the value of attending the meeting as the club, after all , beongs to the members. He thanked Mark Austin for a great year in charge and presented him witha watch and message that in Glen`s year there wil be no "arrive at1.28 "etc.

Glen made few changes .He said philisophically," if its not broken why change it!" One change he has made is that there will be no Captain`s bunkers Instead he has layed down achallenge to the membership for every competition . If you accept Glen`s challenge he asks that you donate £2.00 to the charity fund if you don't beat his score.

The Charity this year is The British Lung Foundation and £95 has already been raised

for the fund in the captains challenge after just 2 wks!

November 1st 2014

I would like to offer personal congratulations to Mark Austin, our outgoing Captain. He has done a brilliant job keeping everyone up to date and informed of club news and results etc.He is a great ambassador for our section, although someone should hide his putter.

Welcome to the new era. Glen Douglas has taken over the mantle of capataincy and his Captains Day on the 26th was a great success. This year the Captains Charity is the British Lung Foundation and to kick it off a pair of VIP Hospitality tickets at Arsenal were auctioned off and raised over £200.

The Bob Baker Trophy was narrowly won by Dave Wright who was encouraged by the mob to donate his winnings to the shower fund.(There is no shower fund)See results page for scores
